Valentines for Veterans!

Some of you know me as Jill Medicine Heart. My husband Bear Combs has been residing in a veterans hospital in Ohio since November 2005. He is rendered vegetative from a brain infection and a series of strokes. We were also litigants in the Pentacle Quest. (For more information on the Quest please visit CircleSanctuary.Org.)
Since November 2005 I have seen and watched veteran's faces glow when they receive a goodie bag filled with treats over various holiday's and I wish to continue seeing these vets receive some joy and happiness in their lives. It shows that they are NOT forgotten and that we thank them for their service to our country. Some of these men have not left this facility in years due to their degenerative medical issues. Some come in for rehab and are able to go home, but there are some who just can't go home. The VA nursing ward is the equivalent to a nursing home outside of the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
If you happen to have any of these items in your home and wish to see them put to good use then please ship them out with the intent of love and admiration for what our service members have given us.

- Boxed valentine cards filled out saying “To a Special Veteran”
- New puzzle books
- Stamped envelopes
- Writing paper
- Pens
- Paperback novels- westerns and mystery novels would be most appreciated, Large print books would be wonderful too. (If you do decide to send books, make sure that you write “Media Rate” on the outside of the box and you get a lower cost on your postage.)
- Candy - regular and sugar free
- Hot chocolate packets- regular and sugar free
- Playing cards - new or used- just make sure it's a complete deck.
- Personal hygiene products - trial sizes work!
- video's and dvds - nothing sexual please
- If you have kids in your household, let them decorate some of those brown lunch bags!
- Any other donations for this project that I have may have forgotten will be welcomed as well. NOTHING will be turned down.
I am NOT seeking financial donations.
Last date for mailing is February 10, 2010. Goodies will be distributed Sunday, February 14, 2010. Each and every donor will be acknowledged for their donation so please be sure to leave me your name and email. If any donations do not make it on the last mailing day of Saturday, February 13, then those items will be recycled for the Easter project. Sender will be notified if this happens!
